Titans v Broncos

Sat 3/8, 3pm

Wicky’s breakdown – The Titans have Brimson and Jolliffe in the reserves – they’d be huge ins for what should be a mouth watering contest. The winner has a shot at the finals and the loser will say goodbye to their 2024 finals ambitions.

The Broncos lose Selwyn Cobbo but do get Piakura back.

3pm game on the Gold Coast with no rain expected – this is going to be a cracking game. Mam & Walsh v Campbell, Fifita & AKP.

The Titans have scored 46% of tries through their left side – 19 of them have been from their left winger (AKP plays that role). Apart from being an option for try scorer multis, he’s a sneaky pick up in Drafts and maybe even a huge POD play in Supercoach!

For the Broncos – with Reynolds back, we’re expecting this to unlock Reece Walsh. Between fullbacks and right wingers they’ve scored 28 tries this season. Look out for Walsh and Arthars today. The Titans have also conceded the most tries to Fullbacks (18) by far in the comp.

Storm v Dragons

Sat 3/8, 5.30pm

Wicky’s breakdown – The Storm get Alec MacDonald back in the 17.

The Dragons have Sloan back at fullback as well as Ravalawa and Bird lurking in the reserves. They lose BMM, Toby Couchman and Mat Feagai.

The bookies and most fans are expecting a massacre here. If the Dragons got smashed by the Panthers in Sydney – it’s hard to see them showing much fight travelling to Melbourne. Although they can sneak into the top 8 with a shock win today!

For the Storm, Grant Anderson has looked great in recent weeks and the role he’s playing (left wing) has scored 16 tries for the Storm this season. With Munster back starting it’s hard to not mention him.

The Dragons have conceded the most tries to middle forwards this season – they conceded a try to a middle forward and a hooker last week. Look out for big Nelson Asofa-Solomona today who’s been named to start.

We did write about how all the stats point to the Dragons right side last week – the Ben Hunt + Lomax combo. But Suli (left centre) actually looked great last week and Tuipulotu (left winger) has scored 4 weeks in a row – all against quality sides.

Sharks v Rabbitohs

Sat 3/8, 7.35pm

Wicky’s breakdown – The Rabbitohs get Cam Murray and Richie Kennar back but lose ‘AJ’ for the rest of the season with a devastating achilles injury.

The Sharks lose Mulitalo and Hazelton but get back Will Kennedy and Royce Hunt!

Cody Walker has been ruled out, replaced by rookie Dion Teaupa. This will have a huge impact on their attack as it means both Latrell and Walker are missing. Look out for Jack Wighton in attack – we can see him having a lot more touches and crashing over.

The Rabbitohs have conceded 19 tries to right wingers, the most of any side. With Mulitalo missing, we can see more opportunities for Sione Katoa, the Sharks right winger.

These 2 sides have scored the most tries through middle forwards this season. Look out for Moale, Keppie (at good prices) as well as Talakai and Uele.

Panthers v Knights

Sat 4/8, 2pm

Wicky’s breakdown – The Panthers lose Laurie and JFH, with rookie Iongi replacing Laurie at Fullback and Lindsay Smith rewarded with a starting berth.

The Knights get Adam Elliott back and Fletcher Sharpe wins a spot on the wing. Unfortunately Bradman Best is out (hammy).

The Panthers are clearly a better team on paper but they have conceded 61% of their tries through their right edge – look out for Marzhew (left winger) for the Knights and we’re hoping KPP can crash over for the first try which we’ve tipped at $61!

For the Panthers – Turuva’s been the right winger for most of the season but him and To’o switched last week. They have slightly more % of tries through their right side, even with Clearly missing most of the season. If this continues – we see Cleary and To’o as the main threats.

Bulldogs v Raiders

Sat 4/8, 4.05pm

Wicky’s breakdown – The Bulldogs get ‘The Foxx’ Josh Addo-Carr back as well as their Skipper Stephen Crichton. Pretty scary to think they blitzed the Broncos at Suncorp without them!

The Raiders have Horsburgh on an extended bench (returning from injury and suspension) but no changes to their 17.

The Dogs looked great in attack last week now get Critta and The Foxx back! They’ve scored 14 tries through their right winger, compared to only 7 through their left winger. We love Jacob Kiraz to go over – he’s been in great form.

Their back rowers are both great try scorers also – Kikau and Preston.

For the Raiders – it’s Big Papa’s 300th. They’ve only scored 2 tries all season through middle forwards (including 1 last week). Can he deliver in his milestone game? We’re backing the big man in!

Hudson Young has been in consistent try scoring form once again in 2024 and the left back row is the one position the Bulldogs have struggled with in defence (conceded 9 tries to that position this season) so he’s our tip for people’s multis etc.

Wests Tigers v Cowboys

Thu 1/8, 7.50pm

Wicky’s breakdown – The Tigers are missing Pole and To’a but they get Olam and Klemmer back.

The Cowboys get Luki back but miss out on middle forward guns Taumalolo and Cotter.

One of these teams will win by 50 points tonight if last season was anything to go off!

The hotspots for the Cowboys in attack are obvious – Holmes, Nanai and Feldt. If you look at the try map below from ‘SupercoachGuns’ – the Cowboys 3 positions’ with the most tries scored this season are the 3 spots that Holmes, Nanai and Feldt play for the Cows.

The Tigers are great at scoring tries through middle forwards. With big Stefano officially announcing he’ll be leaving the Tigers – look out for Api to put him over.

Warriors v Eels

Fri 2/8, 6pm

Wicky’s breakdown – The Warriors lose Jackson Ford but getting CNK and Shaun Johnson back!

The Eels are unchanged but missing stars including Moses, Hopgood and Paulo – it’ll be a tough game against the Wahs in NZ.

The Warriors are strong favourites so let’s look at their attack. They get SJ back on the right – this should reignite DWZ on the right wing. Parra have conceded a total of 28 tries to opposition right centres and wingers, the most of any side.

Dolphins v Roosters

Fri 2/8, 8pm

Wicky’s breakdown – The Dolphins are unchanged whereas the Roosters get Joseph Manu back!

The Roosters are strong favourites in this one but just be wary that the game is at a neutral venue (Perth). Manu is back on the right side – him and Dom Young are always lethal together. The right winger and centre have scored 17 and 11 tries in 2024 for the Roosters, the most of any side for both positions.

The Dolphins have looked better on their left edge in recent weeks – Farnworth and Bostock especially have been really impressive.
